Austin Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital has invested a significant amount of time and effort to attend in-depth continuing education courses and obtain advanced equipment that enable us to effectively treat digestive diseases in your pets.
The digestive system consists of several organs, including the intestines, the liver, pancreas, salivary glands, and teeth.
Many diseases affect the digestive system because of its large size and numerous integrated functions. Gastrointestinal diseases, in general, are the most difficult to accurately diagnose.
Both acute and chronic forms of the disease which do not respond to treatment require an in-depth gastrointestinal profile. This may include:
- Barium studies
- Ultrasound examinations
- Endoscopy examinations complete with micro-biopsies
- Bacterial cultures
- Fecal and/or blood analysis
- Exploratory surgery
