Laparoscopy & Laparoscopic Surgeries

Austin Vet Laparoscopic Spay

Laparoscopic surgery is a technique that allows us to perform a minimally invasive operation on the abdomen or thorax of dog or cat. Traditionally, in the past, surgery was completed using a scalpel, which was a bit more painful and required longer periods to recover and heal.

Laparoscopy involves the use of a video camera and telescope while in surgery and allows us to visualize the inside of the abdomen or thorax in a dog or cat. Laparoscopic surgery, when compared to traditional surgery approaches, allows us to operate through very small incisions, as opposed to traditionally large incisions.

What does this mean for the patient?
